Asana Deconstructed

Functional Anatomy for Yoga

Sunday, March 28, 2021
9 am – 1 pm
Students receive 4 CEUs from Yoga Alliance
Online instruction by Fernando Avellanet
$40

Asana Deconstructed is a 4-hour intensive designed to teach anatomical principles through an on-the-mat experience.

This class is for former alumni of Heal Me Institute seeking an updated recap of the anatomy and physiology topics taught in the HMI teacher trainings. The class will include an in-depth review of the Koshas—specifically, Annanamaya Kosha (the correlation between our nervous system, muscular efficiency, breath and meditation). After the lecture we will deconstruct poses and put in practice the topics of anatomical actions, planes of motions, joint types and muscular actions during the applications of different Hatha yoga modalities (yin, vinyasa, prana and meditation). These modalities will be taught at a slow pace with breath work.

This workshop is for yoga teachers seeking to become more confident and knowledgable in anatomy and how it relates to yoga practice. This workshop is also open to yoga practitioners who wish to enhance their understanding and create a better practice for themselves. Proficiency in advanced poses or techniques is not required.
